chomsky on the election


haven't heard anyone else verbalize quite so precisely how i feel...

nice to hear him come out against abstaining entirely. i've always thought the not-voting-at-all option was a solipsistic one.

i'm not sure i ever quite buy it when i hear folks like chomsky, michael moore, ralph nader, etc. explain that the gov't is far to the right of its citizenry. i'd suggest instead that the gov't is very good at making far right policies seem like populist ones. but i think the general public deserves more blame, frankly. i'm not sure how someone could say this in a way that's politically viable, but the country isn't merely powerless in the face of corporate interests, it's also consumed with hatred and pettiness.
