the older i get, the more i realize that certain stereotypes are just permanently going to apply to my taste in music. one of which might be designated "songs-that-end-up-on-wes-anderson-soundtracks," for better or worse. accordingly, here's a song i must confess i discovered via hotel chevalier, the short "prequel" to anderson's darjeeling limited (a movie i seem to have liked more than 95% of the human race). if you've seen the short film, you might remember it as the soundtrack to natalie portman's butt:

Yes, I was disappointed at Darjeeling Limited. The train was beautiful though and the mace scene was hilarious.
I have to admit I was surprised to see Natalie Portman 98% naked in the prequel. At that very moment I was even jealous of the soundtrack.
i kinda liked the fact that it didn't feel like a big deal? like, wes anderson is all about making things feel like a big deal, and this one seemed kind of indifferent to that. i also think it handled the upper-class-fairty-tale side of his stuff better than i expected. i love the scene where the kid steals owen wilson's shoe... it seemed sadder to me than his other stuff, which always seems fake0sad in an emo way (save rushmore... which is just happy and fun and awesome).
OH AND IT'S WAAAY BETTER THAN ANYTHING WOODY ALLEN'S BITCH ASS HAS MADE IN TWENTY YEARS. HIS SOUL IS MADE OUT OF WEEK OLD WHOPPER WRAPPERS AND HE NEEDS TO LEAVE THAT POOR SCARLETT JOHANNSON ALONE.
