I Don't Want To Talk About It
I love following the perfect songs from version to version over time. These Days, Willin', Ruby, etc. - so many of them. This one was written by Danny Whitten, founding member of Crazy Horse. The orig can be heard on their self titled LP. Whitten was in bad shape and lost himself to drugs and depression so early - he would have been a bigtime dude if he had it together. This Rod version sort of cracks me up. Ian Matthews does a great version, too.

fever ray
i don't know much about this band. i think they're from sweden. the video is more effectively creepy than most stuff of its sort though, and the song kinda appeals to the part of me that wants to listen to kate bush all day long (even if it veers a little too close to trip-hop for my tastes).

the silent majority speaks out
you know shit is getting bad when a CNBC stock market report turns into a bizarro-world free market rallying cry, and makes for good youtube fodder. wall street is storming the bastille!

Eddie Rabbitt Goner
My friend Mike sent me this clip and I sent him back a picture of some clams I was cooking. If you told me I'd be doing this sort of thing 10 years ago....
I want to be reincarnated as that piano player.

blog vs. facebook
Hey my mens and lady. I've just completed my blog, as in ended it. I'll keep it viewable for a while. I'm definitely still going to have fun with this one. I'll miss writing stories about my relationship to brussel sprouts or posting my precocious kindergarden style haikus. Mainly though, I want to take pictures. My Flickr account will be my main bag. I was wondering though?... Does anyone do facebook? I know it's late and I might become addicted (like someone getting addicted to crack post 1991). Is it really worth it?

"recycling" san diego housing in tijuana
click on the quote below to check out an amazing article in the nation about efforts to build emergency housing in tijuana out of discarded homes, home materials and general "waste" from san diego. really fascinating stuff:
The leftover parts of San Diego's older subdivisions--standard framing, joists, connectors, plywood, aluminum windows, garage doors--are being disassembled and recombined just across the border. A few miles south, in Tijuana, new informal suburbs--some call them slums--spring up from one day to another. This river of urban waste flows across the Tijuana-San Diego to make something dramatically new.
a video pertaining to the article...
