Lego Todd Rundgren: Espresso
along with heavy metal and progessive rock i abhor coffee. however in my vulnerable state i am falling for this todd rundgren song about coffee and this completely indulgent video (but great) video for this song

Daft Punk - Electroma
i have been a fan of the nazz for years and particularly todd rundgren's record something/anything. also he is from upper darby which is just next to my hometown so i have the regional pride running - but the past couple weeks i have been dipping deep into all kinds of weird stuff of his. i am starting to feel like when chris smith used to couch his grateful dead interest with specific years as barriers. started out 72 was too far before you know it you are rationalizing shit from 86. anyway daft punk use one of his less blue eyed soul and more far out songs 'international feeling' in their new movie. daft punk seems to be todd rundgren's step children. international feeling is just the beginning if you check out his demos the too much water (dance version) is ripe for a remix.

James Booker- "You Don't Love Me"
On the 2nd Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina I found this old clip. James Booker's greatest record was Junco Partner. He was unpredictable.

herzog d.u.i.
ok this clip needs a little intro. this is allegedly footage of werner herzog drunk driving his car through a shopping mall in glendale, ca (about 10 minutes from where i live). he was apparently very heavy at some point? i'm not sure when this clip is supposed to have taken place. the fact that i can't find any information on this makes me doubt its reality, but i hope it's true. also for some reason the video is set to a jew's harp soundtrack. maybe someone can piece all of this together and make sense out of it.

roxy
prog rock by art-punks. david bowie said he didn't think the make-up worked for roxy music. brian eno perpetually rates higher than roxy for whatever reason, most likely because people they don't really listen or think for themselves. bryan ferry started his career singing about post-high life ennui, the come-down from an all night champagne pig-out. he ended up singing about the same thing on avalon. after the glitter they wore tennis shirts. he was the son of a coal miner.

Killer of Sheep
I never check the free papers so end up missing out on half of the best shit going on, including this movie when it just played in L.A., but I'm looking forward to finally getting to see it when it comes out on DVD.

Roxy Music - Same Old Scene
it took clem coleman putting the first roxy music record in my hand and saying - you need to own this - about six years ago for me to get into them. he also turned me onto bryan ferry's first solo record which is killer. post eno records are also great for example this miami vice style jam from 1980.
as a side note as much as i admire mick jagger it was really underhanded the way he stole jerry hall from bryan ferry.

Roxy Music
I have to admit, I was never really into Roxy Music (I think it was Brian Ferry's voice, I don't know), but these performances made me appreciate them. Eno looks like he's a Skeksi fron the Dark Crystal.

Chicory Tip - Son of My Father
Great keyboard solo. Unfortunate hair. Giorgio Moroder's first songwriting hit (as the onscreen text will elaborate on...)

Who Gets to Call it Art trailer
i saw this the other day. it was pretty good. frank stella was suprisingly a highlight. it is played light but you get some great open moments from the talking heads that way.

Happy Mondays - Performance - OSM live
my friend will just sent me the new happy mondays record. i listen to three songs so far it is good but lacking the great guitars like this song. in 1990 the happy mondays were quite possibly the greatest band in the world

Beat Happening - Cry For A Shadow
no one probably wished he was lee hazelwood more than calvin johnson. he is like lee's slightly touched younger brother. this is in memphis in 1992

nardwuar vs. snoop dogg
sometimes i think nardwuar is just obnoxious, but i really like the interviews where people are willing to have a sense of humor about him and deal with him. like snoop:
