The Times posted an obit for Ray Yoshida the other day. He died at age 78.

He was the main reason why I went to grad school at S.A.I.C and the reason why I even got in.
He always reminded me a little of yoda and little bit like the warm grandfatherly announcers of radio ball games from when we were young. The kind of announcer that would describe everything with suspense and you could tell he jumped out of his seat when he was excited. Ray did that about art. He had some sass too though.
