I was reading about Kabul in a book edited by mike davis called "evil paradises." It's 20 or so essays that each give snapshots of emerging 'plutonomies' - economies increasingly driven by hyper-consumption by the wealthiest fraction of places marked by extreme class polarization. Dubai, Beijing, Johannesburg, etc. It aslo has amazing recipes for stuffed cat with tea and candied confections. meow. (applause)
i'm dying to read that evil paradises anthology... totally up my alley, it seems. i love mike davis.
by the way, the sheep thing won't spoil much with mister lonely. it's not really the sort of experience you can spoil. it's an uneven movie, but i think the shifts it represents in korine's sensibility are good ones. it'll be interesting to see what he does next.
the willow house was a fucked up little house we used to call home while we were at tyler school of art together. the house was condemned by the city. now we're all scattered all over the place, far from willow ave. i thought this might be a good way for us to keep in touch and share music and whatever projects we're working on. maybe also give each other a kick in the pants to make art or whatever.
