i know these convention speeches are dull and predictable and watered-down and often depressing, but if you've developed the morbid fascination with them that i have, john kerry's contribution might be worth a look. it gets better as it goes along. i wish this version of dudeman ran four years ago, but whatever...

Yes, following my brief addiction to the olympics and in addition to my average 6 hrs per day of WNYC, I'm glued to the convention (and all it's coverage).
I know Kerry did his job (after all, "he's reporting to duty!") but I'm still pissed at him from 4 years ago every time I see him.
Tonight is the main event. Obama will wow 70 thousand in attendance... I'm still voting independent... but I hope he's our next president.
To tell you the truth, I'm more anticipating the Republican convention just to see how they answer back.
All said, none of this will replace the utter joy, addiction and dependance I got from The Wire.
Sheeeeiiiiiiiiiiit!
i think, all in all, the convention accomplished what it had to i guess. i agree, the repub. version will be interesting in relation to all the points obama raised tonight. i think he did a good job pre-empting a few attacks. i think he's running a waaaaay better campaing than kerry.
as for the wire, i though season five got off to a dull start (never quite swallowed the serial killer thing, and the newspaper folks were a bit preachier than usual), but it TOTALLY redeemed itself the closer it got to the ending. the final slim charles scene had me cheering.
now i'm hooked on mad men, which is way different, but also good. not as good, but good. i can't quite make up my mind about generation kill! though. it's all very realistic, but the characters are such assholes it's kinda unbearable. apparently simon/burns' new series is gonna have the dudes who played bunk and lester in it though, which has me excited...
