Why I am voting for Hillary Clinton By Anthony “TC” Campuzano, Jr.
If it seems like we have been in the midst of a presidential election campaign for the entire time since the last one ended, it may be because in a real sense, we have been. Ever since George Bush was reelected many of us have focused almost entirely on getting a Democrat back in the White House.
While one of the first steps towards that goal was achieved when Democrats became the majority party in control of the United States Congress in the 2006 mid-term elections, the majority has been a slim one and we have had difficulty marking substantial legislative gains especially when faced with the constant threat (and reality) of a presidential veto. Still, the ongoing struggle to turn back some of the worst of the Bush-era legislation has put the spotlight on what really needs to be done and how important it is to have a Democrat leading the next administration. Now, we clearly have our best chance to do just that. But, which one?
I am voting for Hillary Rodham Clinton. While arguments for either candidate have merit, I believe that Hillary is the better of the two when it comes to serving as president of the United States of America. Unlike most other Pennsylvanians, I can say that I have had the privilege of having voted for Hillary before. From 2000 to 2003 I lived in Brooklyn, New York and I voted for Hillary Clinton when she ran for her first term as junior Senator from that state. I returned to Pennsylvania before her second term run for that same office, but even without my vote, she was reelected to a second term.
During her time in that office, Senator Clinton made many hard decisions (not all that I personally agree with) but served the people with honor, respect and intelligence. In contrast, Senator Obama has not yet completed a full term in the US Senate and as the New York Times reported earlier appears to be in a constant state of auditioning for the next office.
I will be voting for Hillary Rodham Clinton again on April 22 but this time from my home state of Pennsylvania. Hopefully with the support of other democrats I will get to vote for her a third time in November.
Like most Democrats who have strong feelings for one or the other of the two candidates, I am committed to the election of “my” candidate. Yet, like most Democrats I will be fully prepared to fight for and elect which ever Democrat is on the ballot in November. The most important thing for all Americans, this fall, is to make sure we take back our country by putting a Democrat in the White House.
the willow house was a fucked up little house we used to call home while we were at tyler school of art together. the house was condemned by the city. now we're all scattered all over the place, far from willow ave. i thought this might be a good way for us to keep in touch and share music and whatever projects we're working on. maybe also give each other a kick in the pants to make art or whatever.
