anissa mack sent me this today this video is great. thomas nozkowski gave a talk at skowhegan when i was there. super honest great painter.

...you can't sink the titanic...
the willow house was a fucked up little house we used to call home while we were at tyler school of art together. the house was condemned by the city. now we're all scattered all over the place, far from willow ave. i thought this might be a good way for us to keep in touch and share music and whatever projects we're working on. maybe also give each other a kick in the pants to make art or whatever.

He's such a great painter. I appreciate his work more than ever. He visited school while I was there but that was like 8 years ago and I was in a non-painting phase. I like walking around and just pointing things out too. Mostly shapes and light and things people throw away. Nature is the best though.
a former teacher of mine told a story where nozkowski came to give a talk at bard and didn't bring any slides, just brought two modest sized paintings he placed on easels and talked about them. so bold, brave.
