i can't quite believe i'm saying this, but i think hannity's question has a point... i mean, i'm an atheist myself (though by no means an anti-theist... why anyone would define themselves according to an "anti" is beyond me), and i do think that the one BIG question that atheism can't answer is that of origin. hitchens likes to attack with this pseudo-scientific, return-to-enlightenment-skepticism angle, and i think that's the one issue that can't be solved from such a perspective.
i do like him when he goes after the religious right though. and it's nice to see a levelling of the playing field i guess. ultimately, i wish atheism could be presented without an apology, but also without the antagonism of people like hitch (or, from what i gather, some of the other new school atheism people like richard dawkins, etc.)
i stand be hitchens in this argument particularly where he says our mind inherently searches for patterns. i think mostly it is all a terrible folly that we are all attempting to figure out and that other levels of intelligence have gotten closer quicker yet through study we can perhaps get closer but the idea of a god is just a grown up version of a disciplinarian. there is no order no reason and nothing to live for. (i/ some do find certain tokens/blankets etc that make it easier on the long slide to heaven/hell/implosion/explosion-that's called art)
the willow house was a fucked up little house we used to call home while we were at tyler school of art together. the house was condemned by the city. now we're all scattered all over the place, far from willow ave. i thought this might be a good way for us to keep in touch and share music and whatever projects we're working on. maybe also give each other a kick in the pants to make art or whatever.
