The inexplicable pirate hats and crutches look is enough to make me want to see this, let alone the song itself. Somehow I've gotten through life without seeing anything by Sam Fuller, including The Big Red One.
the rest of the movie has almost *zero* to do with this, but it's still worth a look. as far as fuller is concerned, i'd recommend the steel helmet (which criterion just put out in this package of "early fuller") first and foremost. then probably the pickup on south street, despite its anti-commie paranoia. south street has two of my faves in it-- richard widmark and thelma ritter (who is PERFECT).
big red one is a weird movie. i like it, but it's kinda uneven. mark hamill was an awful actor. and using booger from revenge of the nerds as fuller's stand-in wasn't probably the best move, but lee marvin is still pretty cool.
the willow house was a fucked up little house we used to call home while we were at tyler school of art together. the house was condemned by the city. now we're all scattered all over the place, far from willow ave. i thought this might be a good way for us to keep in touch and share music and whatever projects we're working on. maybe also give each other a kick in the pants to make art or whatever.
