Homes you got me at a soft spot. Caetano is my favorite of favorites. I actually went to his show in Rome (1st semester). Best show I've ever been to hands down.
There's a lot of videos with this buckwildness, I think from the same show this video was taped with Gal Costa as well. Gal Costa singing "Divino Maravilhoso" here:

And you gotta check this video by Os Mutantes too. This is one of my favorite songs from them:

figured you'd be into this, reubens... if i remember correctly, you might have literally been the first person to introduce me to tropicalia in general, back in rome, perhaps? i didn't start to really explore it till about five years back, though. seeing veloso perform in almodovar's wonderful film talk to her was a nice reminder to pick up a few of his records. anyway, i'm happy to see some footage of this stuff. for a while there (pre-youtube), the only thing that would come up when i would search footage on the internet was an un-translated brazilian documentary bootleg. well, that and a million things pertaining to beck's album bearing the name of the movement (???). anyway, veloso is totally my hero! also, i like how overwhelmed gal costa looks in that footage!
"Talk to Her" is my ish! When I first began watching that film i was already loving it, then Caetano came with that dove song and I was elated for a few days afterward.
That song in the movie is from a record called "Fina Estampa". That's the tour that I saw him in Rome.
There's another video that I forgot to shell your way with Chico Buarque, another piece of Brazilian walking history. He was also exiled when the Brazilian military took over the country. He went to Italy and Caetano to England. Here it is:

Caetano sings one of Chico's songs and vice versa.
Dan we should link sometime soon. I'm off for the summer with a few dates locked and other than that I'm at the studio or with Lynne and Gali. Let me know. Drop me a line in the samba...
sounds good. i'm currently outta work myself...
