This was a sugary sweet pop single inexplicably released on Industrial Records, Throbbing Gristle's record label. I think it was the same year they released SPK's "Meat Processing Section" ep featuring a photo of a mangled penis on the cover.

jean vigo, "zero for conduct"

i was talking to tc about this film the other night, since it reminded me of melody, which he screened at i-house. above is the famous pillow-fight-procession sequence. the film allegedly inspired lindsay anderson's film if, as well as key sequences from the 400 blows. its central theme seems to be childhood as a mix of chaos and liberation. vigo's story is pretty wild too. in addition to directing what may well be my favorite film of all time (1934's l'atalante), he was also the son of a prominent spanish anarchist who changed his name to sound like the phrase "there is shit!". vigo was possibly the least-angsty filmmaker associated with the early dada/surrealism scene. (ok, maybe duchamp wasn't too angsty either.)
